- I came away impressed with Taggart's demeanor and you can sense his energy has already made an impact on Florida State's program.

Cam Akers:

• Willie Taggart has "revived" the team. Gotten Florida State back to Florida State.
• 5.3 yards per carry was not enough. "You'll be seeing that progress more this season."
• The biggest improvement for him will be to be more of a vocal leader.

Willie Taggart:

• Tagline: "Lethal simplicity."
• Paid a ton of attention on his visit to Clemson a year ago. Met with Jeff Scott the year before and came away impressed. "Once you go there and are around the culture, you can see why they have the success they have at their program."
• Tempo at Florida State will be faster than what it has been before. "We won't huddle."
• Was surprised he didn't get asked until the quarterbacks until the last question. Said he's excited about the competition and can't wait to see who comes out on top. "I'm like the rest of you, I can't wait to see who separates themselves."

Syracuse coach Dino Babers on Dabo Swinney:

Louisville WR Jaylen Smith on the Cards receiving core: "I feel like we have the best group in the conference."

Interesting tidbit that Bobby Petrino said about the Cardinal offense as they move on after Lamar Jackson:

Some quick notes from Petrino at the podium:

• Expects Louisville's offense to be better post Lamar Jackson. Thinks the offense will be more balanced and is very hopeful of the receiving corps coming back. The unknown is his tight end group and believes they will surprise some people.
• Jawonn Pass is a natural leader and you noticed it once he stepped on campus. Pass would always follow Petrino around when he was coaching Jackson. Said Pass is very low key and everyone on the team respects him.
• Feels like Louisville has knocked on the door a few times and is looking forward to trying to get over the hump this season. "You have to beat Clemson. There's no question about that. We've competed with Clemson three out of the last four years."

Swinney is coming to our table @ 1:35 PM and will meet with the rest of the media 2:15 PM.

Mitch Hyatt joked that Clelin Ferrell decided to come back after hearing that he was returning. Ferrell said he as the "utmost respect for him (Hyatt) and there isn't anyone on the team that he has more respect for."

Swinney was asked about the ACC's improvement over the past decade. Swinney said the ACC has "Earned it on the field. Great players. Great Coaches. Good recruiting."

Quick notes from Dabo:

• There's a formal process that you have to go through before stamping something and throwing it in the cabinet. Happy for Brent and his family and he's the best at what he does. He is passionate about his players, coaches and Clemson. Excited about Jake coming in. It gives him more supplemental security for a longer time. He's earned his status and couldn't be more happy for him.
• Tanner Muse got great experience last season that will benefit him. Justin Foster has also really developed. He made huge strides this spring and hopes it will continue into fall camp. He has the mindset and knowledge to go with it to be a productive player.
• Said the Atlantic is a challenging division and has a lot of depth. Cited that the league has had 21 bowl teams the last two years.
• Harped on the priority of Christ in his life. Said he chose to give his life to Christ when he was 16 and said it's hard to strive in this life without a spiritual foundation. Said it's a difficult world and his relationship with Christ has given him hope and peace. Said greatest accomplishment he's had is to see his sons choose Christ.
