#WATCH: Dabo Swinney prior to Spring Practice
Here are some of Coach Swinney's opening thoughts on the 2018 Clemson Tigers.
-- Cole Renfrow in still rehabbing his knee.
-- Greg Huegel is doing great.
-- Freshman Braden Galloway is still out after having surgery on his foot. They hope he will be able to go later this spring.
-- Dexter Lawrence and Richard Yeargin will be held out all spring. They will be in green throughout. Lawrence is still trying to get back after some lingering issues with his foot/ankle. That issue never quite got back to 100%. In Yeargin's case, it's just about making sure he's good after breaking his neck in a car accident last year.
-- Still evaluating areas that the team needs to improve. Lots of self-reflection. It's about starting over. Lot of work on Clemson all spring. Trying to get the people in the right place. We get 15 practices and guys are eager to get out there and get going.
-- Last year we had 6 scholarship seniors, this year with walk-ons, we will have 29 seniors counting Clelin Ferrell who will graduate in December. "I don't think he's going to come back for another one, but we will have that option."
-- We've got four quarterbacks and we are going to make sure they all get a ton of reps. Excited about it, ready to go. It's possible that we have the most depth we've had at Clemson. We've got a lot of talent. We have a chance to put it together that way. Veteran leadership on both sides of the ball and special teams.
-- Talking about quarterbacks: Best guy plays. Come to practice go to work. Get in line and go to work. We have four special players. Four talented guys. We didn't luck up and win the ACC. We've got a proven guy who's lead your team to the playoff. If he's the best guy it ought to be obvious.
-- On Trevor Lawrence: He's got every tool you could possibly want in a quarterback. Arm talent, size, can run, experience, is a winner. "Choosing from the best of the best. That beats choosing from the best of the bad."
-- You have to go prove it every single day. That's what the great guys do.
-- Looking for Tee Higgins and Diondre Overton to take the next steps. Same thing for Cornell. It's time to cut it loose. Those guys will assume different roles. Ready to see them go do it.
-- Probably start with Pollard at right guard and try to get our best five on the field right out of the gate.
-- Garrett Williams brings a mindset that's hard to coach. He's back.
