Clemson ranked No. 1 in combined football and basketball seasons
Clemson's had a great run of success in recent years on the gridiron, but the basketball team hasn't been able to reach the postseason, until this year.
While the basketball team has had their struggles, this year Brad Brownell's team cracked into the NCAA Tournamnet. Not only that, but after convincing wins over New Mexico State and Auburn the Tigers marched into the Sweet 16 before falling to Kansas.
By virtue of Clemson basketball's success and Dabo Swinney's team entering the College Football Playoff as the No. 1 seed, the Tigers are ranked #1 according to USA Today for combined success of both major college sports.
In an article titled, "The 10 schools with the best combined college football and college basketball seasons", USA Today's Paul Myerberg ranked Clemson at the top.
1. Clemson
The Tigers made their third College Football Playoff appearance in as many years, losing the rubber match to Alabama in the Peach Bowl, and ended the year ranked No. 4 in the Amway Coaches Poll. In basketball, Clemson advanced to the fourth Sweet 16 in program history before losing to Kansas.
Myerberg's top ten also included football powers Alabama and Ohio State.
