CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s basketball team filled out the 2018-19 roster with the addition of graduate transfer Simone Westbrook, as announced on Thursday by head coach Amanda Butler.

“We are super excited about all the skills that Simone possesses as a competitor and the impact that she will have on our Clemson basketball family,” said Butler. “She’s a dynamic defender who not only can hit the last shot, but also wants the last shot.”

Westbrook spent two seasons suiting up for the Florida Gators, although she did not see any game action during her senior year due to a torn ACL.

The Chandler, Ariz. native started 13 of 31 games for Florida in 2015-16, averaging 8.0 points and 2.4 assists per outing under then-head coach, Amanda Butler. The junior posted 10 double-figure outings and was the team's fourth-leading scorer.

Westbrook led the Gators in steals (2.3 per game) and ranked third in the conference, earning her an All-SEC Defensive Team nod from the league's coaches.

The graduate student, who was granted a seventh year of eligibility by the NCAA in June, brings wisdom and experience to the Tigers.

“She really understands all the qualities that it takes to make a great teammate,” said Butler. “Her past success and maturity will be great assets to our program.”

Westbrook will join the Tigers as the team returns for the start of the school year, in preparation for the first season under Coach Butler.

Fans will get their first look at Westbrook and the rest of the 2018-19 Clemson team on Oct. 28 when the Tigers host Lander for an exhibition game. Season tickets for the upcoming season are on sale now!
