PJ Hall Nets Career-High 29 in 90-69 Win Over Alcorn State

CLEMSON, S.C. – PJ Hall (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) scored a career-high 29 points on 11-for-18 shooting from the floor, including nine rebounds, a career-high-tying four assists and two blocked shots in Clemson University men’s basketball’s 90-69 rout of Alcorn State on Friday night.

The Tigers (5-0) were led offensively by Hall and Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) who tallied 18 points and a game-high seven assists. Hunter added two steals and two rebounds. In addition, the Tigers totaled a season-high 26 assists.

In a game of back and forth play early, the Tigers cemented an 11-point advantage in a rather high-scoring opening stanza, 48-37. 

Clemson settled in defensively in the second half, pushing its lead to a game-high 23 points with 5:11 left in regulation. The Braves (1-7) posted five double-digit scorers in the loss.

Joseph Girard III (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) was the third Tiger to total double-digits, finishing with 13 points, four assists and four rebounds. Ian Schieffelin (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) nearly tallied his own double-double, finishing with eight points and 10 rebounds. 

Clemson’s bench outscored Alcorn State’s 17-5, while the Tigers added 44 paint points and 15 points off turnovers in the victory.

Clemson returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 28 when it travels to Alabama for the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge. Tipoff in the Coleman Center is slated for 9:30 ET on ESPN.
