Hall, Schieffelin Double-Doubles Not Enough in Double-Overtime
CLEMSON, S.C. – PJ Hall (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) and Ian Schieffelin (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) both netted double-doubles in Clemson University men’s basketball’s double-overtime loss to Georgia Tech, 93-90.
The Tigers (12-5, 2-4 ACC) were led by Hall and Schieffelin. Hall finished with 31 points and 17 rebounds (both career highs), while Schieffelin totaled 20 points and 15 rebounds. Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) added 18 and Joseph Girard III (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) finished with 11.
Clemson led by two at the break. With 1:43 left in regulation, the Tigers held a 68-59 leads, however, the Yellow Jackets would close the game on a 12-3 run to send the game into overtime. After playing to an 11-11 tie, Georgia Tech squeaked out the victory in the second extra period.
The Tigers finished the game with 50 points in the paint, and 30 second-chance points aided by a Brownell Era best 22 offensive rebounds. Clemson finished 3-for-21 from three.
Clemson returns to the court on Saturday, Jan. 20 when it travels to Florida State. Tip time is set for 4 p.m. on ACCN.
