Clemson Falls 72-71 at Duke
DURHAM, N.C.– Clemson University men’s basketball was called for a foul with 1.0 second remaining at Duke and would fall by one, 72-71.
The Tigers (13-6, 3-5 ACC) were led by PJ Hall (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) who finished with his fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Hall made a pair of free throws with seven seconds left in regulation before Josh Beadle (Columbia, S.C./Cardinal Newman) was called for a foul with one second left that would allow the Blue Devils to take the lead and eventually win the game.
After trailing by six at the break, the Tigers put together a strong and efficient second half, outscoring the Blue Devils 45-40.
Joseph Girard III (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) scored all 13 of his points in the second half to help rally Clemson. Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) totaled 11. Ian Schieffelin (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) led the Tigers with 11 rebounds.
Clemson outrebounded Duke 42-33 and led 20-6 in bench points.
Clemson returns home on Tuesday, Jan. 30 when it hosts Louisville at 9 p.m. on ACCN.
