After a long wait, we finally have a complete look at Clemson’s 2024 football schedule. The Tigers hope to return to the CFB Playoffs for the first time since the shortened 2020 season. The road to making it back to the playoff is not going to be easy for Clemson by opening up the season in Atlanta against Georgia and a road trip to Tallahassee to face Florida State. We will be unpacking the Tigers’ schedule game-by-game over the next week.

Today we take a look at games 4-6 as we highlighted the opening three contests earlier this week.

September 28th - vs. Stanford - Memorial Stadium, Clemson

2023 Record: 3-9

Last Game: 56-23 Loss to Notre Dame

Clemson and Stanford meet for the first time as ACC opponents on September 28th in Death Valley. The trip to Clemson, South Carolina, will only be the Cardinal’s second road ACC matchup- they travel to Syracuse to face the Orange the week prior. Of the three new additions to the conference, Stanford is the only one to face Clemson in 2024.

The Stanford Cardinal and the Clemson Tigers have only met one other time, in the 1986 Gator Bowl. The Tigers held on to take the victory 27-21 after being up 27-0 at the half.

In addition to playing Clemson and Syracuse, Stanford’s ACC slate includes matchups with Virginia Tech, Wake Forst, NC State, and Louisville. The Cardinal will also face new ACC member Cal and longtime rival Notre Dame, who has a partnership with the league.

October 5th - at Florida State - Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee

2023 Record: 13-1

Last Game: Orange Bowl, 63-3 Loss to Georgia

The Tigers look to get revenge on the Seminoles after their heartbreaking overtime loss last season. Clemson is 7-1 in their last eight meetings against the Noles. Florida State leads the all-time series 21-15, and the Noles and Tigers have a combined 35 total ACC Championships, with Clemson accounting for 20 and FSU having 15.

The Seminoles picked up former Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei from the transfer portal in the off-season, adding to the intrigue between the rival programs. Uiagalelei spent one year at Oregon State after transferring from Clemson and passed for 2,638 yards. The Seminoles have gained 15 transfer portal players coming in in 2024. This game is one of the most anticipated match-ups in the ACC this season and will have implications for both teams down the road.

October 12th - at Wake Forest - Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium, Winston-Salem

2023 Record: 4-8

Last Game: 35-3 Loss to Syracuse

The Tigers travel to Winston-Salem on October 12th to face the Demon Deacons. Dabo Swinney’s perfect 15-0 against Wake Forest will be on the line again, and a 16th consecutive win would represent the Tigers’ fourth-longest winning streak against a single opponent in program history. Last season, Clemson held on to defeat Wake in Death Valley 17-12 in which Dabo Swinney tied Frank Howard’s 165 victories.

Clemson leads the series all-time 71-17-1, with Wake’s last win coming in 2008 with a 12-7 victory. The Tigers will come off of the road trip to Tallahassee and head to Winston-Salem for their second true road game of the season.

We will continue with our series early next week, taking a look at Games 7, 8, and 9 of the 2024 season.
