CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson University men’s basketball led by as many as 24 points in the second half but held off a hot-shooting second stanza from Louisville in a 70-64 win on Tuesday night in Littlejohn Coliseum.

The Tigers (14-6, 4-5 ACC) were led offensively by PJ Hall (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) who finished with 25 points and five rebounds. It was Hall’s 30th-straight double-digit scoring game and his 25th 20-point outing of his career.

Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) was an offensive force for the Tigers, scoring 16 points on an efficient 5-of-8 from the floor, 2-of-4 from three and 7-of-8 at the foul line. Hunter eclipsed 1,000 career points to become the 46th player in Clemson history to amass 1,000 or more.

Rounding out the double-figure scorers, Joseph Girard III (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) scored 13 points and passed Georgia Tech’s Dennis Scott for sole possession of third place on the ACC’s all-time 3-point list (353).

Clemson led by 12 at the break (34-22) and pushed its lead to a game-high 24 points with 12:55 left in regulation. From that point, Louisville outscored Clemson 33-15, but the Tigers would hang on late for the victory.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Feb. 3 when they host Virginia at 2 p.m. inside Littlejohn Coliseum.
