Clemson basketball loses a third player to the transfer portal
Clemson sophomore forward Randall "RJ" Godfrey Jr. (6'8, 228) entered the basketball transfer portal on Friday.
Godfrey averaged 6.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and shot 59.4 percent from the floor and 43 percent on three-pointers (3 of 7) in 36 games last season.
The strong post player from Suwanee, Ga was pivotal for Clemson throughout the season as a backup to frontcourt starters PJ Hall and Ian Schieffelin and elevated his play in the NCAA Tournament.
In four games, Godfrey averaged 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and blocked three shots as the key substitute for foul-prone Hall. His contributions were vital for the Tigers' Elite Eight run in the tournament.
Godfrey joins Josh Beadle and Jack Clark in the portal as the program has yet to announce the future plans of Hall, Chase Hunter, or Alex Hemenway.
