The Clemson Tigers earned their second shutout of the season as they defeated West Virginia 3-0 on Friday night at Historic Riggs Field. Freshman Kendall Bodak scored her first collegiate goal while Jenna Tobia and Mackenzie Duff netted their first goals of the season.

“It was a good win tonight versus an always tough to play West Virginia team,” Head Coach Eddie Radwanski said. “Our team got off to a good start, scored three very good goals, we moved the ball well and defended together as a team. Overall a very good performance.”

Clemson brought the energy early in the first half as freshman Kendall Bodak found the net first for the Tigers at the 12th minute mark. Junior Emily Brough passed the ball to freshman Anna Castenfelt who was able to find Bodak in scoring position. Bodak, off the header, slipped the ball past the West Virginia keeper to give Clemson the 1-0 lead.

Shortly after the goal from Bodak, sophomore Jenna Tobia scored her first goal of the season as she put the ball past the Mountaineers keeper at the 20th minute. Castenfelt passed the ball to Bodak, who attempted to knock it in off the header but the ball bounced the opposite direction of the keeper. Tobia, who was in perfect position behind Bodak, found the rebound and placed it just past the keeper to score the second goal of the night.

To finish off the half, Mackenzie Duff scored the third goal for the Tigers at the 32nd minute mark. A free kick from Dani Davis lined up the scoring opportunity for Duff as she executed the second header of the night to score the goal in striking fashion. Duff led the Tigers to their final goal of the match, and her first of the year.

Clemson goalkeeper Nona Reason tabbed her second shutout of the season as she picked up two saves, and held off the Mountaineers offense for a full 90 minutes under the lights of Historic Riggs Field.

Up next, Clemson is seeking its third win of the season as they face-off against the Furman Paladins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 29 in Greenville, S.C.
