CLEMSON, S.C. – Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) scored 25 points and helped power Clemson University men’s basketball to a 77-57 win over Florida State on Saturday afternoon in Littlejohn Coliseum. Hunter finished with three rebounds, two assists and an emphatic blocked shot.

The Tigers (13-4, 5-1 ACC) were led by Hunter’s 25 points, but also received 15 from Jaeden Zackery (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central/Boston College) and 12 from Chauncey Wiggins (Grayson, Ga./Grayson).

Hunter was extremely efficient from the floor, finishing 8-for-14 from the field and 5-for-9 from three, while going a perfect 4-for-4 at the charity stripe. Clemson improved to 8-0 this season when Wiggins nets double-figures scoring.

Zackery was also efficient this afternoon, finishing 5-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range. He totaled three assists and a steal.

Florida State’s largest lead was early in the opening stanza when it held a 15-12 advantage. However, a 15-4 run from the Tigers pushed them in front and they would lead by seven at the break 36-29.

Clemson surrendered just 11 points through the first 12 minutes of the second half, building a 16-point advantage over the Seminoles. A tremendous chase-down block by Hunter would lead to an open corner three from Zackery to give Clemson its largest lead of the game at 21, 73-52.

The Tigers would lead by as many as 23 in the game and would coast to the 20-point victory.

Clemson held Florida State to just 57 points, its lowest point total in a game by a wide margin all year. The previous low was 72 in a win over Tarleton State. The win also gave Clemson a five-game win streak in the series with Florida State – the longest in series history for the Tigers.

Clemson finished the day 48.3 percent from the field (28-58) and 46.4 percent from three (13-28).

Despite uncharacteristically not filling up the stat sheet, Ian Schieffelin’s (Atlanta, Ga./Grayson) impact on the game was felt in many areas, including leading the Tigers with six assists.

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 14 when they travel to Georgia Tech. Tipoff is slated for 9 p.m. on ACCN.

Notes: Clemson moves to 13-4 this season and 5-1 in the ACC … the win is Clemson’s fifth consecutive victory over Florida State – the longest streak for the Tigers in series history (dating back to 1951-52) … Head Coach Brad Brownell won his 445th game of his career and his 278th while at Clemson … Clemson is fourth in the ACC since 2017-18 with 77 league victories … the Tigers finished 46.4 percent from three and are now 8-1 this season when shooting 40.0 percent or better from three as a team … Chase Hunter played in his 150th career game at Clemson on Saturday – he’s played in 32.0 percent of the total games coached by Brad Brownell at Clemson … Hunter scored 25 points, his fourth 20-point game of the season and 13th of his career … Hunter now has 1,528 career points and is 13th on Clemson’s scoring list … Chauncey Wiggins scored 12 points for the Tigers, his eighth this season in double-figures … Clemson is 8-0 when Wiggins scores in double figures.
