A year ago, Bryant Wesco was part of a youthful Clemson receiving corps trying to find its rhythm. Now, the sophomore has become the focal point of an offense that’s rediscovering its explosiveness, and he’s forcing his way into the national spotlight.
After flashing his potential as a freshman with 41 catches for 708 yards and five touchdowns, Wesco has taken another leap in 2025. Through mid-October, he leads the Tigers in receptions (31), receiving yards (537), and touchdowns (6).
Last season, Wesco and fellow freshman T.J. Moore combined for nearly 1,400 yards and 10 touchdowns, helping stabilize a passing game that had lost star receiver Tyler Brown to injury for most of the season. Alongside Antonio Williams, who led the team with 904 yards and 11 touchdowns, the young duo set the foundation for a much-improved attack.
Wesco and Moore were part of a loaded 2024 receiver class that included Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith, a first-team All-American, and Alabama’s Ryan Williams, a second-team All-American.
ESPN’s preseason “Ranking the Best Receivers in College Football for 2025” placed Wesco at No. 8 nationally, joining teammate Williams (No. 6) among the elite. The list also featured Smith (No. 1) and Ryan Williams (No. 2).
Also cracking the list were Jordyn Tyson (Arizona State, No. 3), Elijah Sarratt (Indiana, No. 4), Eric Singleton Jr. (Auburn, No. 5), Evan Stewart (Oregon, No. 7), Carnell Tate (Ohio State, No. 9), and Kevin Concepcion (Texas A&M, No. 10).
Wesco’s production this season places him among the nation’s top receivers. He currently ranks tied for 11th nationally in receiving yards, ahead of Smith and Tyson.
| Player | School | Receiving Yards | National Rank |
| Bryant Wesco | Clemson | 537 | T-11 |
| Jordyn Tyson | Arizona State | 523 | 16 |
| Jeremiah Smith | Ohio State | 505 | T-19 |
He also sits among nine players nationwide with six receiving touchdowns, trailing Sarratt, Smith, and Tyson, each with seven. San Jose State’s Danny Scudero currently leads the country in touchdowns (8), yards (845), and is second in receptions (52).
With Williams returning to full health after missing parts of three games and receiver Tristan Smith and tight ends becoming more involved, Clemson’s passing distribution could shift in the coming weeks. Still, Wesco’s consistency and knack for big plays could land him in the Biletnikoff Award conversation — the honor given annually to the nation’s best receiver.
Clemson has produced a long line of star receivers including DeAndre Hopkins. Sammy Watkins, Mike Williams, Tee Higgins, Hunter Renfrow, etc, but Watkins is the program’s lone Biletnikoff finalist (2013).
The semifinalists for the 2025 Biletnikoff Award will be announced on Nov. 17, with the finalists revealed on Dec. 11.
