Clemson Lands Commitment From Peach State Running Back for 2027 Class
Clemson football continued its strong week on the recruiting trail Wednesday as four-star 2027 prospect Gary Walker committed to the Tigers, becoming the program’s second pledge of the week following Monday’s commitment from safety Jarrell Chandler.
The 6-foot, 200-pound running back from Creekside High School in Fairburn, GA selected Clemson over several major programs, including finalists Penn State, Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Stanford.
Walker put together an impressive junior season in Georgia, rushing for 1,669 yards and 20 touchdowns while averaging 9.4 yards per carry and 119.2 yards per game.
Recruiting outlets view Walker as one of the top backs nationally. 247Sports ranks him No. 7 at the position, while Rivals places him No. 8 among running backs in the class.
Clemson first extended an offer to Walker, also a 4.0 student and member of the Beta Club, after he attended the Tigers’ Elite Retreat in March. The relationship quickly gained momentum, and Walker later returned to campus for another spring visit where he watched practice and spent additional time with running backs coach CJ Spiller.
Walker's commitment gives Clemson nine pledges in the 2027 recruiting class.
