Clemson's Doc Redman started the day 4-over par and shot a final round 77 leaving him outside the cut line at 9-over par.

Unlike his performance Thursday, Redman had a bit of a rough start bogeying No. 1 and No. 4 at the Masters. Those two strokes put the young golfer's back against the wall on the hallowed grounds of Augusta.

However, before the first half of his round was done, the talented sophomore sunk birdies on No. 6 and No. 9 leaving him plus-5 with nine holes to play.

Sitting on top of the projected cut line, Redman needed to close strong to become the second Clemson Tiger to make the cut as an amateur dating back to Chris Patton's achievement in 1990.

Redman bogeyed the par-4 10th and found himself in trouble on No. 11 carding a double-bogey and seriously putting his opportunity to play on Sunday at Augusta in jeopardy. Four holes later on the 15th, another double-bogey sealed the Raleigh, North Carolina natives fate.

On No. 15 Redman hit the ball over the green in two, then knocked the ball into the water on his third shot.

Redman's 76 - 77 finish placed him ahead of former Masters champions Sergio Garcia, Angel Cabrera, and Larry Mize.

It wasn't all bad news for Clemson golf as former All-American Kyle Stanley made the cut with a round of 74 on Friday. Stanley became the 11th golfer with Clemson ties to advance to the final two rounds at Augusta.

Stanley will play tomorrow with Francisco Molinari of Italy at  11:50 a.m.
