Deshaun Watson leads Houston to franchise-record eighth consecutive win
During Houston’s 34-17 win over Tennessee, analyst Booger McFarland noted that Dabo Swinney called Deshaun Watson, Michael Jordan coming out of Clemson two years ago, but the former LSU defensive lineman decided Houdini might have been a better choice.
Watson once again mystified another NFL defense, this time to the tune of 19 of 24 passing for 210 yards and two touchdowns to Demaryius Thomas through the air.
Trailing 10-0 early, Houston outscored Tennessee 27-0 taking a commanding lead before a Titan field goal with 1:29 left in the third quarter trimmed the deficit back to 27-17.
Watson opened the scoring for Houston with a 15-yard touchdown run off the left side of the offensive line.
It was Watson’s second touchdown pass to Thomas that provided the final margin as the Texans won their franchise-record eighth consecutive game.
The former Clemson quarterback also chipped in on the most prolific rushing game in Texans history, featuring a 97-yard burst from Lamar Miller. Watson added 70 yards on the ground during the game.
Former Tiger wideout DeAndre Hopkins had five receptions for 74 yards during the contest.
According to Elias, the Texans became the first team in NFL history to lose their first three games and then win eight in a row.
ESPN notes that Houston now has a 96.4 percent chance of making the playoffs.
The Texans will host the Browns next Sunday at 1:00.
