Former Clemson wide receiver Mike Williams had a breakout performance in tonight’s AFC battle between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Williams’ three touchdowns helped lead the Chargers to a come-from-behind victory, 29-28.

The Chargers were behind all night, taking the lead with just four seconds left after Williams brought in the game-winning two-point conversion, following his third score of the game.

Trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, Williams’ caught a three-yard touchdown from Philip Rivers cutting the Chiefs lead in half.

Later in the contest, Williams found the endzone again on a reverse toss, rushing 19 yards for a score, darting through the middle of the Chiefs’ bringing the Chargers within one score at 21-14.

Down seven with three minutes remaining, the Chargers marched 60 yards on eight plays into the red zone. The key play being a huge fourth-down conversion from Rivers to Travis Benjamin keeping the drive alive.

With under a minute left, facing a third-and-goal, Williams was well covered in the back of the endzone, but a pass interference penalty gave the Chargers new life at the one-yard line.

On the next play, Williams ran an out route finding paydirt for the third time. The Chargers head coach, Anthony Lynn told Rivers, “The heck with it, let’s just win it now,” and that’s just what they did.

The Chargers lined up and once again Williams ran an out route, but a busted coverage left him wide open for the winning two-point conversion.

Williams finished with 76 yards receiving and two touchdowns to go along with his 19-yard rushing touchdown as well.

With the win, the Chargers clinched a playoff berth and tied the Chiefs at 11-3 in the AFC West.
