Sean Pollard's Project Impacts Pediatric Cancer

Being an offensive lineman at Clemson isn't easy, every day at practice you have to square off against one of the best defensive fronts in college football. While the names Dexter Lawrence, Christian Wilkins, Austin Bryant, and Clelin Ferrell might be concerning to an offensive lineman, they do not strike with the fear of one word. CANCER.

Every day, young children across the world stand toe-to-toe with the disease and Clemson's Sean Pollard wanted to use his platform to make a difference.

Pollard told David Hale from ESPN, "These kids go through so much I could never imagine," Pollard says. "You see them come out here with a smile on their face, it gives you an idea of how much they look up to you and how much of a platform you have."

This past offseason, Sean Pollard organized an event, "All-Off for Cancer." Pollard along with several other members of Clemson's team shaved their heads, with some help from a few pediatric cancer patients, to show support for ClementsKindness.com.

According to their website, Clement's Kindness Fund for the Children was established at the Community Foundation of Greenville in 2002 to help address the medical, psychological, social, emotional and financial needs of Upstate families impacted by pediatric cancer and other serious blood disorders.

Pollard's efforts raised over $10,000 in just a few days.

But Pollard isn't done. He is currently growing out his beard and plans to hold another event down the road to raise more money to help the families and the children who battle cancer every day.

Yesterday, ESPN's David Hale wrote a fantastic piece on Pollard's work.

We would encourage you to take a moment, and some tissues, over to ESPN's website to read, "A Tiger's tale: How an O-lineman rallied Clemson to tackle pediatric cancer."
