Clemson adds five-star to 2021 class

Clemson lands yet another five-star with the commitment of running back Will Shipley‍. Shipley, a 2021 prospect, announced his commitment by way of Twitter on Tuesday. 

The all-purpose back has shown his versatility both on the football field and on the track as he competes in several events. Shipley's versatility at running back is a valuable asset in today's offensive sets and Clemson's offense suits him perfectly.

Shipley chose the Tigers over Notre Dame, North Carolina and others. 

Shipley, the North Carolina State Player of the Year in 2019, was on campus back in January and came away from the visit feeling great about Tiger Town.

"I loved Clemson. It was a great visit," Shipley said at the time. "My family and I really enjoyed it."

The product of Weddington High School is the second running back to commit to Clemson after four-star tailback Phil Mafah announced his commitment in August 2019. 

While the locker room is expected to be crowded at running back, Shipley told ClemsonSportsTalk.com that he understood that and wouldn't be overly influenced because of competition.

"It is definitely something I will consider coming down the stretch," Shipley said.

Shipley is now the only five-star prospect to have announced his intention to play for the Tigers in 2021 after top-ranked player Korey Foreman‍ reopened his recruitment earlier this year.
