We caught up with Chris Landry about the biggest storyline in college football history as the Big Ten and Pac-12 both shut the season down earlier this week.

Chris Landry has spent a lifetime in football, having served as Coach, Scout and Administrator at the College Football and NFL levels.

Currently, Chris operates his own Coaching and Scouting Consulting business serving both NFL organizations and College Football programs in the areas of pro and college personnel, recruiting, advance scouting as well as coaching assessment, development and searches.

Landry was selected to serve as the Coordinator of the NFL Scouting Combine in 1993 where he oversaw the selection and operation process of the top draft prospects.

Landry began his coaching career as a student assistant at LSU in the mid 1980’s, working his way up to a full time position before being hired by Bill Belichick and the Browns in 1992.

On his reaction to the news that the Big Ten and Pac-12 were shutting it down:

It's one of those things that, you know, is a possibility. But when it happens, you still can't believe it. And that's kind of how I feel numb is the best way [to describe it.] Just from an analytical standpoint, I don't understand making the decision, particularly when they did, why wouldn't you delay it take as much time we don't know 100% with the ACC and the SEC, the Big 12 are going to do other than they're going they're staying the course. We don't know that that's not going to change in a week or two I mean, but to not take it the distance is very disconcerting.

On the Big Ten:

“It's very arrogant, a young commissioner, but let's call it what it is, this is political. This goes higher up than the presidents this goes higher up to the governmental agencies of the state universities that have a lot of influence. So, you know, there's no doubt that the governor of Ohio and Michigan and Minnesota big pushes for this.”

On liability being the issue:

“We're not lawyers, but we do know this. We live in a litigious society. So I absolutely could see a lawyer coming in and trying to make a name for himself and make money for himself by saying, 'Let's do a class action lawsuit, you 50 players or whatever,' I could see that. I could see the lawyers at the universities are advising this could happen. In a general sense, can you prove that you got it because you are at the facility or your practice, are you in a meeting? Are you at a game? How can you prove that? That it didn't happen at Walmart on Wednesday afternoon, between classes?”
