We had an interesting opportunity tonight to catch up with both Baylon and Brannon Spector on separate Zoom calls. The two brothers play on opposite sides of the football as Baylon stars at linebacker and Brannon is making his mark on the offensive side of the ball at wideout.

Here are a few quick unedited notes from today’s availability.

We will have much more to come tomorrow morning.

Baylon Spector

Coming into camp, what were things that you kind of focus on in the offseason, and what did the coaches give you to work on during the (offseason)?

"Definitely weight, overall strength, weight, and then fundamentally just movement. Transitional movement's the name of the game so just working on my movements, drops and overall strength. And definitely flexibility is a key focus that I was focusing on."

How much did Ohio State game help you with your confidence as you came into the offseason and getting ready for this year?

"Oh, it was big. A lot of preparation went into it definitely helped me out. Obviously I was very excited after the game, but overall it was a great experience. Definitely brought my game I feel like to a different level like bringing my confidence up. So, yeah, I thought it was great."

A lot of young linebackers at the various positions there. Anyone or two that have stood out to you this camp?

"For sure, they're all young. They're all learning, it's definitely a process. But every day, I mean all of them come out and do the best they can do. I mean all three of the young guys Trenton (Simpson), Sergio (Allen) and Kevin (Swint) have all had a great camp. Coming in as freshmen, it's a lot for a freshman linebacker in such a complex defense. but I think all of them have had a great camp, and will continue to get better and be great in the future."

Who's working behind you at WILL?

"Right now, we kind of rotate. Like today. It was me and Jamie (Skalski) and then sometimes it was Jamie and Jake (Venables) and then it was me and Jake and now. Sometimes, if Keith Maguire works behind me, Kane Patterson and so, Coach V really does a great job of just rotating guys and making sure everybody's ready to play because you never know what will happen."

On how practice is going and carrying on the No. 13 legacy at Clemson University:

“Practice has been going great for me. It's definitely been a more of a bigger role, I would say this fall camp for me. As far as the legacy of Humphries and Coach Grish and Renfrow, it's awesome just to carry on. Not like, necessarily play their game, but just be great. All three of them were great receivers, I'm just here to keep that standard high."

On who is working at the 9-Man WR position:

“Joe Ngata, Cornell Powell, and E.J. Williams have been working at the 9-man.”

On freshman E.J. Williams:

“He’s going to be a freak. The future is bright for him."

On who his game most resembles from the recent No. 13s at Clemson:

“I would say it's like a mixture of (Adam) Humphries and (Hunter) Renfrow, just because, you know, Humphries was tough and I feel like I have some of that in me and then also with Renfrow's quickness, I feel like I'm very quick off the line and quick in and out of my breaks.”

On freshman safety Malcolm Greene:

“Malcolm’s been looking really well for a freshman. He plays stout and strong. Off the line, he’s really good."
