Clemson just got off the practice fields and we’ve got some quick notes for you. Enjoy the full audio from K.J. Henry’s time with the media above.

K.J. Henry

On being a leader this season:

"I'd definitely say I've been a leader here in some fashion or another. But my leadership roles definitely [have] grown this year. I'm starting to see that and I'm loving. I'm loving the influence I have with the guys. I feel like they respect me, respect what I do out here. So I'm just trying to give back and I really just teach what I've been taught. But definitely feel like my leadership role has grown this year.”

On how he’s grown on the field:

“I just had to build up my body. Just mentally too, that always comes with knowledge and time."

On the March for Change:

“It meant the world to me. That was the best thing I've done since I've been here, football, non-football wise. That was awesome. Just to see No. 1 all of us be on the same page. Because that's the first thing, you can't expand a message if it's not on the same track internally. So that was awesome to see within our house. Seeing the community come together, I felt like it was a great influence I just was happy for how I represented my family. Definitely my grandpa, my grandma, I know they love something like that. They just saw what we stood up for it. It was an honor to be a part of that and help lead that. I'm just glad it had been a thought in my mind, but I'm so glad Mike (Jones), D-Rench (Darien Rencher), Trev (Trevor Lawrence), and Cornell (Powell) came through with that. I thought it was awesome. Hands down the best thing I've been a part of since I've been here. I was just glad we were able to do something and hopefully, we will continue to do so."

On if Clemson is planning anything else to raise awareness on social issues:

“We have talked about it, but we don’t have anything set in stone."

On freshman Myles Murphy:

“Myles was nothing like me when I came in. He couldn’t have been a good basketball player because he’s too big. That dude is a freak of nature, to say the least. One day I want to be a football coach, but I’m sitting over here as a teammate like, 'Dang, where did we get this kid?’”
