Former Clemson QB works out with Texans
Former Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant received a workout with the Houston Texans on Tuesday.
Bryant, the former Clemson and Missouri QB, also landed a workout with the Arizona Cardinals back in August.
Bryant was the Tigers starting quarterback in 2017 and at the beginning of the 2018 season, before relinquishing that spot to Trevor Lawrence four games into the year. He threw for 3,338 yards on a 66.2% completion rate during his tenure at Clemson, accumulating 16 passing touchdowns in the process.
Texans head coach Bill O’Brien says he is looking to bring someone in not based on experience, but what they can contribute to the quarterback room.
“I think like there’s probably some guys out there that have experience, but I wouldn’t say that’s the number one key for that role,” O’Brien said. “I think it’s more about, hey, does this guy have the capacity to learn, does he understand his role, is he a good guy, will he fit into the quarterback room well?”
Deshaun Watson, former star quarterback for the Tigers, is currently the Texans’ starter.
