Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence remains inactive for Saturday’s game against No. 4 Notre Dame, marking his second-straight missed contest.
Much of the buzz surrounding the presumptive No. 1 pick in next year’s NFL Draft has been his Heisman Trophy worthiness following a two-game absence. ESPN’s Andrea Adelson doesn’t believe his hiatus should play a factor.
“I refuse to penalize Trevor Lawrence because he tested positive,” Adelson said on ACC Network’s Packer and Durham. “He’s still No. 1 on my Heisman list.”
“My hope is when it comes time to vote, people consider the most outstanding player and not how many games they each played.”
Lawrence hopes soon clear ACC COVID-19 protocol and rejoin the Tigers during the team’s Nov. 14 bye week.
