In-state receiver pledges to Clemson ahead of early signing day
Clemson football received some positive recruiting news on Thursday night. After losing two 2022 recruits, Clemson added four-star receiver Antonio Williams to the class.
On Thursday morning, defensive end commit Jihaad Campbell de-committed joining IMG Academy (FL) teammate Keon Sabb, a top 10 safety, who broke his pledge on Dec. 6 in response to former Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables taking the head coaching job at Oklahoma.
Williams (6'0, 180) caught 84 passes for 1,625 yards with 15 touchdowns this season for Dutch Fork High in Irmo, SC. He is the fourth-ranked overall player in South Carolina and second receiver behind future teammate Adam Randall of Myrtle Beach High, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
The in-state duo will team together on the South roster in the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives North vs South Bowl on Dec. 11 at Myrtle Beach High's Doug Shaw Stadium. They will also be teammates in the 2022 Under Armour All-American Game on Jan. 2.
Williams, the 2021 Maxpreps South Carolina Player of the Year and former Dutch Fork teammate of receiver/quarterback Will Taylor, is the 13th commit in the Tigers' 2022 class.
