Clemson snags 2024 four-star defensive back from Tallahassee

July 15, 2023

Four-star defensive back Ashton Hampton‍ has made his college commitment by choosing to play for Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers. Despite receiving offers from other top programs such as Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, LSU, and Miami, Hampton has landed in Clemson partly because of his relationship with Mike Reed.

The 6'2, 190-pound athlete hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, has established himself as a highly sought-after talent, and his commitment to Clemson is a big deal given his proximity to ACC foe Flordia State.

Hampton's visit to Tiger Town on June 2 left a lasting impression on him, as he expressed his enthusiasm on social media, tweeting, "I had an amazing time this weekend @ClemsonFB. It truly felt like home."

Beyond his individual abilities, Hampton attributes his success to the support he receives from his family, both on and off the field. His father, Alonzo Hampton, brings a wealth of football knowledge to the table, having been a former NFL Europe player and currently serving as the head coach at Arkansas Pine-Bluff. Through his father's guidance and mentorship, Hampton has developed a deep passion for the game.

Hampton is the 16th commit for Clemson in the 2024 class, joining OL Ronan O'Connell‍ and DE Adam Kissayi‍ as July commitments for the Tigers.
