On the debut of House Call:
“Kyle and our creative team came to me with the idea and asked me if I’d be interested and I was quick to answer yes. Because first of all, my family is very important to me, and Weddington has been a place that has propelled me to where I am today. When he came to me about the idea I had a couple of scheduling conflicts, but we found a way. Literally, my family and I were in tears watching it.”

On the feel of everyone on offense in the new system:
“I think the word is excited. Everybody is excited. We’ve got the potential to be really great and there is no doubt about that with all the weapons and pieces we have-- and I’ll start with No. 2 at quarterback. He leads the offense. He leads this team. You talk about the weapons around him and the five guys up front. Some young receivers have to step up, no doubt. You talk about me and No. 7 in the backfield, I don’t think there is a better duo in the nation-- humbly. I see how hard we work every single day.”
On Coach Riley brought back the spark:
“I would say that Coach Riley has done a great job just coming here and adding different components. He’s thrown things in there, and he’s just put the weapons in position to make plays. Today we had a couple of big bangers on the defense which always puts a smile on your face, right? I think he’s done a great job putting us in position to make plays. It’s one of the most fun days I’ve had being a Clemson Tiger was today, just out there. I think it’s going to be great.”
On weighing in at 231 pounds:
“That’s where I wanted to be, last year I was playing around 225ish so I knew they would definitely move me inside the box, so the extra five or six pounds. It took a lot of hard work Especially how hard we work out, you are going to lose a lot of weight. It took a lot of eating. It was a grind to get to 231.”
On being so good at tackles for loss:
“It’s huge. It’s something that plays a big part into momentum. I think that’s what the game is about. Whoever wins the momentum side of the game is going to come up successful. We emphasize getting tackles for loss, sacks, it’s really all about the ball, but anytime you get a chance to tackle them in the backfield, it’s a huge play.”
On Will Shipley’s competitiveness:
“I think it was one day during spring practice-- something broke out, it gets super competitive out there. Defense was chirping-- offense was chirping, and I think Ship might have broken a big run and he came back and called out every single defensive player’s name. He just started chirping at us. That was probably the most intense I’ve seen Ship get. He doesn’t talk much unless it gets pretty heated. I’ve never seen that side of Ship and it brought out the best in us too.”
