Sheridan Jones
On the depth in the secondary:
"I would say so, yes. We've got a lot of depth of people that can play-- just going from top to bottom. There is just great freshmen coming in, like all of them just looking good enough to go out there and be able to play on Saturday. The standard never changes. Whether we put the ones out there, twos threes, it doesn't matter."
On the young DBs:
"Just seeing those guys taking that next step going into their sophomore year, looking like they want to be dependable. They had a couple of bad plays, a couple of good plays last year, but that's freshman year, everybody gets that learning experience. You learn from those lessons. We never take losses, we just learn from them. So, just seeing them come with a different level of confidence coming out there to make plays. Just like me, they know that time waits on no man. So you got to go out there and you've got to do what you've got to do and make every single rep count."

On Jeadyn Lukus’ hit in the scrimmage:
"I heard it because I was coaching up somebody else on the sideline. I was like, ‘Who was that? That was J-Lu? So it was really exciting just to see him-- knowing how he's dealt with injuries. Injuries can really take a toll on you mentally and physically, so to see him come back and just play with a level of confidence that he knows like he came here for a reason was good."
On returning for one final season:
"It was important for me because as you all know, I dealt with a lot of injuries last year. Definitely had a shot but always know that maybe another year wasn't gonna hurt anything. It was only gonna make everything better. Another year, I could get another degree. I'll be graduating again in December with my Master's. Another year with Wes, another year with my guys also. I live with Jalyn (Phillips) and Ruke (Orhorhoro), and we have talks every night about the things that we want to accomplish together as a team as brothers. We're going to try and go do the whole thing."

On watching the offense this fall:
"To me, the most encouraging thing is probably just seeing the guys work. They don't miss a beat. Even though we may make mistakes, we just get back to the line and try to make it right. Giving an all-in effort and not giving up. That's been the most encouraging part to me, throughout the whole camp experience."
On the offensive line:
"They are doing great. They are giving it their all. They've definitely taken a step up from last year. We're just getting better and better every year. The guys from last year are coming into this year ready to play harder and work harder. I'm seeing that every single day they bring it just opens up opportunities for us to make great runs and for the QB to get the ball out. We've been saying that all camp."
On the offensive scheme:
"I love the offense and what helps us get the running game going is the passing game. We've got the receivers being a threat on all corners of the field, so it opens up the running game, naturally. Have an air raid offense, we are able to also run the ball the way we want to. So that definitely helps a lot."
On comparing himself to Will Shipley:
"I say I'm a bit more chill. Will is chill too, but he'll be at your grits, for sure if you need to do something right and if you need to be corrected. He's definitely encouraging to the younger guys, and that's what we try to bring-- just encouragement. Help them at any opportunity and help them learn the game more and just develop their game from the high school level-- the two coming from high school into the college level."
