On playing against a different team after a long offseason: “Definitely a huge excitement to be able to go against another team of color I guess, not just orange to purple every day. Super excited for that. I think our defense has done an incredible job of preparing our offense since January-- in spring practice, in fall camp and obviously leading up to the first game. I think a great defense makes a great offense and vice versa so it's really really exciting.”
On playing a road opener: “I think it’s fun to get the season rolling on the road and I don't see it as too different from being at home in a preparation type of way, but it's definitely fun to hit the road early. It kind of creates a real-life atmosphere whenever you hit the road.”
On if he feels different as the starter: “100%. It's just a confidence and kind of a peace about it. Just knowing that we can just go play. We're not trying to prove anything. We're just gonna go play ball. I think there's definitely a peace and a joy about that for sure. Coach Swinney tells us all the time that ‘confidence comes from preparation’ and we've been preparing for a while now. So we're ready to go show it.”
On what the offense needs to prove: “I don’t know what we would need to prove. I think if we need to prove something that means somebody's talking bad about us. I just think we need to go play our ball and do what we do. We don’t have to do anything special. Just do what we’ve done for the last eight months. Go have fun and just play free. Every day we got to practice we're treating it like a game. We really do. It’s high-intensity high reps. We try to practice like there’s 90,000 people watching so that whenever we go into the game, it feels like a normal rep.”
