Clemson Tigers Ranked No. 8 in United Soccer Coaches Week Four Rankings
CLEMSON, S.C. – After securing a win over Arkansas and earning a draw against Georgia, the Clemson Tigers move up to the No. 8 spot after the conclusion of week four, the United Soccer Coaches announced on Tuesday.
The Tigers entered the season ranked 25th but have continued to climb in the rankings each and every week. After week one, the Tigers moved into the 19th slot but then jumped to No. 11 after week two. In week three, Clemson moved into the top-10 as they earned the No. 9 ranking. The Tigers remain within the top portion of the rankings as they secure the No. 8 spot in week four.
At the conclusion of week four, goalkeeper Halle Mackiewicz was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. Mackiewicz has impressed all this season as the senior is one of two keepers to lead the nation in shutouts (6) and is ranked sixth in the NCAA for save percentage (.941).
Senior Makenna Morris leads the team in the points with 12, while freshman Jenna Tobia leads the group in assists with seven. Morris and graduate Sami Meredith lead the Tigers in goals with four on the season.
The Tigers finish the non-conference schedule with a 6-0-2 record as they will prepare to open up conference play by hosting No. 4 Florida State on Friday for another Top-10 matchup at Historic Riggs Field. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m. and will be streamed on ACCNX.
