Mitchell Mayes:

On the Walker Parks injury: “I definitely do hate it for him. I’ve been talking to him every day since we found out he was going to be out. I want to be there for him because that’s my guy. Of course, I want to start, but I never wanted it to be this way. I have to embrace the role and do everything I can to be the best version of me in that position.”

On why he didn’t transfer in the off-season: “I didn’t want to quit. The coaches gave me an opportunity, and I wanted to give them everything I had. It’s working out for the best.”

On his grade against FSU: “Not what I wanted. I believe I could’ve played a much better game. Really focusing on finishing the game better. Pass protection is a big focus for myself I could’ve done a lot better.“

On the success of the run game against FSU: “We started doing more in the run game. We like inside zone but we started using GT and I think that’s one of the bigger runs of the game - guard and tackle pull. We have to stay consistent with it. We’re gonna have struggles in the run game but we just have to keep pounding the rock.”

On the message moving forward: “We have to finish better. We’ve been doing some good things and we are working and fighting it’s not an effort problem but we need to finish. We’ll move forward and flush this."

Cade Klubnik

On the FSU game: “I felt confident going into it with the game plan that we had and the style of defense they were in…I feel confident going into every game.”

On getting into a groove: “I felt like we were rolling. The offense is playing great, we really are. We’re three plays away from being 4-0 this year. Three plays away and it’s a whole different narrative we’re writing. I felt in a groove and I felt great playing the entire game, we just have to finish.”

On practice this week: “We’re going to keep dialed in on who we’re playing this week. It’s a season of one. We’re focused on the game this week, and that’s it.”

On Syracuse: “I’ve heard it’s a great atmosphere, and it’s loud. They pack it in just like we would. I heard it’s a cool place to play, one of a kind.”

On the Syracuse defense: “They’ve got a lot of good playmakers. Definitely going to be a great team, they always are a great challenge for Clemson. A great defense, great offense, and it schematically will be a good game.”
