OL Trent Howard says Clemson has 'inside-out mentality' blocking 'outside noise'

On the play of the offensive line: “No man, it’s a team game. I’m just so proud of this group. The whole team. How we’ve battled this year. We’ve had some adversity no doubt, but we’ve all stuck together. Been inside out. Coaches. Players. I mean we’ve just all come together and it’s really something special to be a part of.” 

On the outside noise vs. how the team played: “Coach Swinney did a good job trying to preach it. Inside-out mentality. Nothing starts from the outside in. It always starts from the inside out. That’s what we had the focus on each other today and kind of blocked out the outside noise. Yeah, and just go out there and win another one this week.”   

On today’s running game: “Like I said, inside out mentality. We try and block out all that stuff. I mean we know what we got in the room. We know what we can do. We know what we are capable of. Notre Dame obviously is a great team. They played really hard. We knew it was going to be a really good challenge and we just had to go out there and execute today.”  

On taking a step forward: “I think it’s a great opportunity. Just to go 1-0. Next week, I think the biggest thing is momentum. We got some momentum today and just keep trying to enjoy this today. We’ll be back to work on Sunday, watching film. Then we’ll be ready to go next week.”   

On the locker room postgame: “Man it’s awesome. It’s such a blessing, it really is. I'm thankful. Number one, shout out to Death Valley today. I mean, the fans showed up and showed out man. When you got that kind of support behind you, it’s just, you can feel it. We could feel it today. So, big thanks to all the fans today. It was great. Just a good time to come together and just enjoy the win.”
