Clemson softball continued their winning ways, this time over Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon in Clemson.

Behind another strong outing in the circle from freshman right-handed pitcher Valerie Cagle, the Clemson Softball team earned its ninth consecutive victory in the opening game, 9-1, of the Tigers’ series Friday afternoon at Clemson Softball Stadium.

The Clemson Softball team, now 16-7 overall on the season, won its 11th straight game at Clemson Softball Stadium as the Tigers took down Charlotte (11-12) by a score of 11-2 in five innings in game No. 2 of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

MK Bonamy’s single to center field drove in the go-ahead run for the Tigers after shortstop Hannah Goodwin smacked a double down the right-field line to put Clemson (15-7, 3-0 ACC) in scoring position.

For the second time in four weeks of ACC Softball action, Clemson right-handed pitcher/outfielder Valerie Cagle has been named the ACC Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday, for games played Feb. 24 – March 1.

The Clemson Softball team (10-7) won its third game of the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic I tournament, which was held at ESPN Wide of World Sports Complex, by a score of 6-3 over Morgan State (2-7) on Sunday.

A two-run homer by Villanova left fielder Caroline Jones in the bottom of the second inning proved to be the difference as the Wildcats defeated Clemson 2-1 Friday afternoon at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Clemson will look to rebound after falling 3-2 at UNCG on Tuesday (Feb. 18) as it heads to Kissimmee, Florida for the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic I.
