IT’S BACK. After an extended break, The Roar has returned to give you three quick hitters and some fun facts each morning during the week! I know our team is looking forward to making the website a great place to stop by each day during the college football season!

We hope you like the tidbits, nuggets, and thoughts we have on CFB from Monday through Friday!

IRISH EYES. The Sam Hartman Era at Notre Dame got started yesterday with a 42-3 win over Navy in Dublin, Ireland. Hartman threw four touchdowns in his Notre Dame debut, completing 19 of 23 passes for 266 yards. His four passing TDs tied the Notre Dame record for most in a first game with Ron Powlus (1994) and Jack Coan (2021).

With the new clock rules, the two teams combined for just 110 plays, and the Irish were quite efficient, scoring their 42 points on just 57 plays. Running back Audric Estime rushed for 95 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown as well.

Clemson and Notre Dame will face off in Death Valley on November 4.

ACC EXPANSION. In the ever-evolving landscape of college sports, the ACC's potential expansion saga has reached a crucial juncture, as ESPN's Pete Thamel reported. During a segment on ESPN's College Football Live, Thamel noted that dialogues are ongoing, but he believes that a soft-deadline exists with Week 1 looming.

As we inch closer to Week 1, will Stanford, Cal, and SMU get a lifeline from the ACC or will they end up in No-Man’s Land like Oregon State and Washington State?

As I’ve noted in the past, adding these teams is a no-go for me unless Notre Dame is a part of the package, taking the ACC to 18 teams. Otherwise, it just doesn’t make sense. Here’s a look at what the other Power 4 leagues will look like next year:

  • Big 10: 20 Teams
  • SEC: 18 Teams
  • Big 12: 16 Teams
  • ACC: ?? Teams

To me, if the ACC is willing to take Stanford, Cal, and SMU, they MUST force Notre Dame into the league to get to 18 teams like the other conferences.

In my dream scenario, the Big 10 would drop Nebraska and Iowa to the Big 12, giving us four 18-team leagues. At that point, the Power 4 would be poised to split the leagues into more regionalized conferences to mimic the NFL with a large shared media rights deal from ESPN and Fox.

But that’s just how I would try to do it.

SONG OF THE DAY. No doubt about our choice today, as college football got cranked up yesterday.

OFF THE PATH. It was a somber day for entertainment enthusiasts around the world, iconic game show host Bob Barker, known for his tenure as the charismatic host of "The Price is Right," passed away at the age of 99. Barker's journey to stardom began in 1972 when he took the reins of "The Price is Right," a game show that would become synonymous with his name.

Few things delighted me more than when I had to stay home from school because I was sick and I got to tune in to watch Barker on “The Price is Right”. I’m sure many of you feel the same way.

Barker’s cameo in Happy Gilmore was classic for our generation as well-- and by the way, I feel compelled to remind you to help control the pet population — have your pets spayed or neutered.

See y'all Monday!
