We heard from Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and nickel-hybrid Andrew Mukuba on Wednesday afternoon.

Check out those two interviews here! We will add a few transcripts as well!

Jeremiah Trotter

On the biggest changes he’s seen in DC Wes Goodwin: “I feel like he started out with a lot of knowledge of the game, had a really good scheme defensive-wise, but he definitely implemented some different changes during the offseason. Little things to confuse the offenses. Different blitz patterns that have improved the defense. He’s always trying to look for ways he can improve, not just himself, but the defense as a group.”

On finally getting to hit on another team: “I feel like myself and my teammates are ready to get out there. We’ve been competing against each other all this time-- making each other better. We are excited to see the work pay off and face other great players from around the country. I just can’t wait.”

On showing they are better than the performance against Tennessee: “I feel like we learned from that game. We watched the film and got better-- made sure that over the offseason, we worked on those things. We are excited to go out there and start out on a good note. We are ready to show all that work and grind that we did during the offseason will pay off.”

On playing the nickel-SAM spot: “That was all part of me putting on weight. Being able to take that physicality in that box, that’s all a part of it. I feel like I’m ready for it. I feel like my body is ready for it, and I feel like I can take on anything. I feel like that’s the best position to put myself in the best position to win-- and help the team. I like where I am at nickel. It’s going to help me.”

On covering Duke’s slot wideouts:  “They do a good job. How they run their routes and when they take shots working off your leverage. They do a good job stopping their routes. It’s going to be a good challenge. We are ready for it. We know what to do, we are going to try and execute. It’s going to be a good game for us DBs. They’ve got a pretty good reviewing corps so it’s going to be a test for us, we are ready though.”

On the differences in his role now vs. playing safety: “At the safety position, you are the last person out there, so you are all the way back there. In the nickel position, there are a lot of things you can do. You can blitz, you are going to have to be in the box-- fit the run. You are going to have to play underneath. Being involved in the game more-- making more plays by being closer to the ball. There’s going to be times I’m at safety too, it depends on how the game is going. That’s going to be on Coach Conn and how he wants to adjust that.”
