Caden Story Speaks on Position Change During Spring Practice

We heard from Caden Story on Monday following spring practice. Read a few points that were discussed below!

On who approached him on his transition from DE to DT: “Coach Eason first came to me about it. He was like, how would I feel about it and I was like, you know, that’s what I played in high school, so it’s something I’m comfortable with. Just moving back from outside to inside that’s something I’m getting back comfortable with.”

On what’s different between the two positions: “On the outside, I’d say there’s more space. That’s the only difference is just you have more field on the outside. On the inside, you know, you’re right there in the three-tech or the 2-I. You know you have someone on the outside of you. When you’re the defensive end you know you are the contain guy.”

On the difference between Coach Eason and Coach Rumph: “Just the way they use certain things and the different terminology that they say. Pretty much they’re saying the same thing, but they may just say it in a different way. Both of them guys are going to coach you hard, but they’re going to love you harder.”
 
On if this was a good move for path to playing time: “I feel like with the guys we’ve got in the room at D tackle, that was a great move for me. But I know, once I got moved to the DE room, that we have a lot of great in there as well. So, I must keep competing and those types of things. “

On what he’s seen out of A.J. Hoffer:  “He’s a great competitive guy. You know, both of us are competing. He’s definitely been someone who’s helped me with things, just transitioning from inside back to outside. He’s someone that helped me make that transition smoother.”
