No. 1 Clemson Opens 2024 Season Against Penn State
CLEMSON, S.C. – The top-ranked Clemson men’s program is set to open the 2024 season on Thursday, welcoming the Penn State Nittany Lions to Historic Riggs Field for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. The match will be broadcast on ACCNX.
The Tigers, coming off their fourth National Championship title during the 2023 season, finished 14-3-5, are now tabbed to win the ACC by the league’s head coaches. Clemson was also picked to win the Atlantic Division by the ACC’s coaches.
Senior returner Joran Gerbet has been named to the Preseason Watch List, as well as No. 29 on the Top Drawer Soccer’s Preseason Top 100. Nathan Richmond and Arthur Duquenne were also named to the TDS preseason list at 25 and 76, respectively.
Clemson and Penn State have met once in history, with the Lions being victorious in the September 1999 meeting. Penn State finished 2023 with a record of 10-4-5 and earned a share of the Big Ten regular-season title, but fell to Indiana 1-0 in the Big Ten Tournament final.
