Game preview:
What they said:
“It’s never a good time to go to Clemson. But in game one, with a new Georgia Tech coaching staff implementing a new system, the timing couldn’t be worse. Clemson’s defensive line will beat up on the Tech offensive line and the Jackets offense will look confused on several occasions. The Clemson offensive line should dominate as well which will give time for the skill players to do what they do best: make plays. Lawrence will throw, Etienne will run, and Clemson will roll to victory on Thursday night as the ACC Network broadcasts its first game.”
Bleacher Report, 52-13 Clemson
What they said:
“Two of Clemson's stiffest tests of the entire season will take place in the first three weeks. Unfortunately for both Georgia Tech and all college football fans desperate to watch a fun game on Thursday, this isn't one of those challenges. Clemson has won the last four games in this series, each by a margin of at least two touchdowns. This might be the biggest beatdown of the bunch, though.”
CBS Sports, Clemson Unanimously, Georgia Tech Covers the Spread
What they said:
“This is a ludicrous point spread for two teams that play each other every single year, even if one is the reigning national champion and the other is moving into Year Zero with its first non-option based roster in more than a decade. Collins will have his group energized and I think the defensive side of the ball is going to be able to make enough plays against the heavy favorites to get the cover. Pick: Georgia Tech (+36.5)”
College Football News, 41-10 Clemson
What they said:
“Georgia Tech will throw a few haymakers in the first ten minutes to make things a little bit interesting – it’ll get an early field goal – and then it’ll all kick in as the Tiger offense explodes on a big scoring run to put it away before halftime.
The Tiger defense will make the biggest impact, looking the part against a Yellow Jacket offense that won’t have any answers in the second half.”
