The Shepherd Hotel Downtown Clemson | Where Southern Hospitality Meets Clemson Family

Welcome to a warm boutique experience in the heart of downtown Clemson. At The Shepherd Hotel, every room is curated for comfort, every event features a backdrop of spectacular views, and every guest is invited to experience the heartfelt hospitality of our team.

On Saturday night under the lights in Columbia, Dabo Swinney and the Tigers got revenge for last season's 1-point loss to South Carolina. The Tigers took down the Gamecocks 16-7 on senior day and capped off Shane Beamer’s third full season with a 5-7 record.

Heading into the matchup, Clemson had struggled with scoring offensive points all season, including field goals. But on Saturday night, Swinney trusted Jonathan Weitz to put up points against the in-state rival.

Weitz knocked in three nail-biting kicks, which ended up being the only points scored offensively for the Tigers. He hit a 50, 49, and 42-yard field goal and put points on the board, while the offense could not make it in the endzone.

“I had a bad taste in my mouth after last year, and I talked to the seniors about that, about how much this means.”
- Jonathan Weitz

Dabo Swinney made the call to invite Weitz back to the program in September, ahead of the Florida State matchup. Weitz immediately dropped his plans to move to New York for work and decided to rejoin the team and play one final season for the Tigers.

Weitz commented on scoring nine points against the Gamecocks in his post-game interview.

“I had a bad taste in my mouth after last year, and I talked to the seniors about that, about how much this means. Especially thinking, ‘I’ll forever be a loser to the Gamecocks’… Being able to get revenge this year in this fashion– you can’t make it up.”

The Tigers finish the regular season 8-4 with the victory over the Gamecocks. They wait to find out their bowl destination, which will be announced on December 3rd.
