Shelton Lewis on playing multiple DB spots: 'I’m willing to play them all.'

On the recovery from his leg injury:

“Just preparing, and my mindset when I went into treatment. Just knowing that football and this team need me, and I need them, I was just trying to get back as quickly as possible to play football.”

On playing at nickel:

“I’m just trying to fit my best way in to play for this team. Wherever they need me, I feel like I’m willing to play that position. So, they needed me at nickel, and I was willing to go in and play nickel and just kind of get my snap rates up. So, if they need me at corner, nickel, safety, I’m willing to play them all. They needed me at that spot, and I went it and fulfilled that spot on the defense.” 

On the difference between nickel and corner:

“With our corner spot, you’re pressing all the time. Nickel, you’re playing a little off man. A lot more zone, a lot more just having better eyes. So, I say, being versatile, blitzing, just a lot more things in that nature.” 

On Avieon Terrell’s demeanor on the field:

“He wants to go out there and make a name for himself. Just going out there and playing complimentary football. He brings that juice and swag to the DB room. I would say just natural Atlanta football for you out there on the football field. Just going out there and making plays. I think tackling isn’t something you can teach. You’ve got to have the heart to go out there and tackle, and I think that’s with anybody. Seeing him do that is practice made perfect.” 

On how they plan to rattle N.C. State’s QB:

“I say just going out there and being fundamentally sound, just not running upfield. Making sure that we stay, like I said, within our defense and just making sure we execute the right way.”
