On the NCAA officially doing away with National Letters of Intent: “There'll be some type of scholarship agreement will take its place, but I don't know many details on all that. But, I am encouraged that the rev share seems like it's going to the next step and pushing forward. So that's a positive.”
On Khalil Barnes having once been committed to Wake Forest: “He was a guy a lot of people recruited as a receiver. Initially, that was kind of what he wanted to play, but he's just a kid that is the epitome of what we talk about in this game. Guys develop. Guys get better. That's one of the reasons I don't like to offer freshmen and sophomores is, you know, a lot of times those freshmen and sophomores aren't the best players as seniors. A lot of times those sophomores that you wouldn't really offer by the time they're seniors, man, they're great players. It's a developmental game and he's a guy that just kept getting better and better and better. Really glad we got him. He's a special player.”
On Troy Stellato being back in the lineup: “He's just one of them seven. They're all battling for time. He had some nice plays for us. He had a few good catches and some contested plays, but just continuing to do his job. You know, there were a couple of other opportunities that he created some separation and got open but didn't get the ball, but he's impacting the game without the ball, too. That's what we try to get these guys to understand is whether you play 20 plays or 40 plays, maybe you have four catches, and everybody thinks you had a great game, but how did you impact the game on all those other plays? Did it matter that you were on the field? So all those guys are competing. He's trying to take advantage of his opportunity, and he's a tough kid. We’ve got a great group of depth, and all those guys deserve the opportunity to play, and he's one of them.”
On injury updates: “No, we just, you know, kind of got some guys that are day-to-day. A few guys get banged up this time of year, but we'll see where everybody is by Friday. We've got a couple of guys that are close, but we'll see where they are by Friday when we load up and go.”
On who is in the jumbo package this year: “That is intellectual property. I cannot share at this time. You’ll just have to wait and see. Who says we have the jumbo package? Who says that? You know, I don't know. But you never know. We may, and you'll see them once we run them out there.”
On Mike Dooley commenting on the hotdog at PB’s Takeout: “Well, first of all, their Thursday trips are legendary, but I don't make those Thursday trips. That's a part of our advanced team. So they leave out early Thursday morning and they get to the next... Dooley's got an itinerary ten pages long and a million meetings. From everybody that will be dealing with our team, from the airport to the police, to the movie theater, to the hotel, food, you name it. It's all work that's got to be done before the team arrives on Friday. But part of their travel itinerary everywhere they go is where's the best hot dog? So they've been to some spots, but I have not been to this one in particular. They've got quite a group. It'd probably be fun to follow that group around. That ought to be like one of our vlogs or something, following the advanced team on a Thursday trip. That might be some good footage. Might have to edit some of it though, I would imagine.”
