Clemson, S.C. – No. 3 Clemson scored four goals in seven minutes and used a five-goal second half to shut out Upstate, 6-0, on Tuesday night at Historic Riggs Field in non-conference action. The win moves Clemson to 9-2-2 on the year, while the loss drops Upstate to 3-12.

The Tigers, who have ridden a balanced offensive attack all season, had six different players each record a goal, and earned five assists on six goals on the night. Remi Okunlola had a career day, turning in his first goal of the year and assisting on two others.

Okunlola opened the scoring in the 10’, as he deflected a chip shot into the goal for his first goal of the season, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Later, just after the second half kicked off, Okunlola placed a perfect ball for James Kelly who flicked the ball into the goal. Just under two minutes later, Okunlola sent a ball to Wahabu Musah who perfectly placed a shot past the Upstate keeper as he fell to the ground, giving Clemson a 3-0 lead.

Three and a half minutes later, in the 52’, Musah sent a ball to Arthur Duquenne who was streaking down the middle of the field. Duquenne chipped a rainbow shot over the Upstate keeper for a 4-0 lead for the Tigers. One minute later, the Tigers used a quick restart on a free kick and Alex Meinhard netted his fifth goal of the season for Clemson’s fourth goal in 7:00.

In the 74’, Jackson Wrobel played a ball to Ransford Gyan who played it back to Wrobel who snuck behind the Upstate defense for Clemson’s sixth and final goal of the match.

Clemson out-shot Upstate 25-7 on the night, while Joseph Andema saved the Spartans’ only shot on goal.

Up next, the Tigers return to Historic Riggs Field on Friday, taking on Syracuse in an 8:00 p.m. match to be shown on ACC Network.
