The Storylines

A win on Saturday would be Clemson's eighth against power conference opponents in 2024 and would give the Tigers a win over the team with the SEC's longest active winning streak. Only three teams in the nation have more wins vs. power conferences than Clemson.

Clemson tried a trick play where it looks they were going to run some sort of reverse, but it blew up in the Tigers face and they're lucky it wasn't a turnover there.

They are reviewing the play but I'm not sure why this play is being reviewed.

For the second game in a row in Death Valley against South Carolina, a trick play goes against the Tigers, as the pitch from Klubnik to Mafah was ruled never to be possessed.

South Carolina takes over at the 40.

On the backwards pass, Clemson did not maintain complete control of the fumble and it was recovered by South Carolina. Gamecocks with the ball back, facing 3rd and 3 with 4:48 to play in the 3Q.

3rd & 17 for Clemson coming up as we head to the final quarter here in Death Valley. I expect a conservative call from Garrett Riley. Tigers' defense is playing well and any score from Clemson will be big here.

As we hit the 4th quarter with Clemson leading 14-7 it feels like the Tigers still have a lot of work to do to finish this game. South Carolina isn't going away.

Sellers is picked off by Khalil Barnes. He jumped the route perfectly. Tigers take over inside their own 10 with 10:39 to play in the game, leading 14-7. If Clemson scores here, you can really make it an uphill battle for South Carolina.

Clemson's defense has three turnovers today, none more critical than that one right there.

That slant route has been there all game, but Cade put too much on the ball. Both quarterbacks for Clemson and South Carolina now have passes they wish they could have back on the last two drives.

They are saying Sellers couldn't hear the signal and that will be costly as they took a delay of game penalty.

Alex Herrera knocks through the 42-yard field goal to cut into the Tigers lead.

South Carolina went for the onside kick and Clemson recovers. Ball did bounce around a bit but good heads up play. 6:42 to play in the game -- Clemson holding on to a 14-10 lead.

Clemson can't take advantage of the good field position near midfield as the drive lasted 1:26. South Carolina is about to get the ball back after an illegal formation penalty will give the Gamecocks a free five yards.

5:09 left. Clemson leading 14-10.

Clemson was inside the red zone three times:
- Turnover on downs (Mafah stopped on 4th & 1)
- Fumble on trick play (Clemson was in line to go up two scores)
- Ball deflects off Phil Mafah's hands and into the arms of Demetrius Knight to seal the win.

Can't win games like that.
