CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Clemson University men’s basketball used a 16-7 run over the last 5:09 of regulation to seal a 65-55 victory in its first ACC game of the season, defeating Miami (Fla.) on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers (9-1, 1-0 ACC) were led by Chase Hunter’s (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) 18 points, while Ian Schieffelin (Atlanta, Ga./Grayson) totaled his fifth double-double of the season and 17th of his career with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Viktor Lakhin (Anapa, Russia/CSKA-2/Cincinnati) added 12 points and six rebounds. Lakhin and Schieffelin combined to go 5-for-7 from three. Jaeden Zackery (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central/Boston College) added eight points and a team-high four assists.

Clemson led a very sluggish offensive first half 25-24 at halftime.

Miami led by a game-high four points at the 18:15 mark of the second half, but Clemson rallied to tie the game at 41-41. Then with the score 49-48, Dillon Hunter’s (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) only field goal of the game was one of the biggest – a wing 3-pointer falling down to keep the Tigers in the lead by four.

Clemson used momentum over the next few minutes to extend its lead to 10 and hold off Miami for its first road win of the campaign.

The Tigers return to the court on Saturday, Dec. 14 when they host Memphis at 11 a.m. in Littlejohn Coliseum. The game will air on ESPN2.
