Clemson head coach Brad Brownell entered the media room on Friday afternoon and wanted to immediately address the elephant in the room.

Former Clemson forward Jaron Blossomgame's name has been linked to an FBI investigation regarding former NBA agent Andy Miller and his former associate Christian Dawkins giving players cash advancements while they were in school.

According to the report, Blossomgame received a payment by Venmo while he was at Clemson for $1,100.

Brownell said this afternoon he had no comment on the report.

"I don't have anything to comment on about the story this morning other than my comment that we put out," Brownell said. "I'm not going to get into those kinds of details or any of that kind of stuff."

"I’ve been in college basketball for over 25 years, and I’ve always tried to conduct myself within the rules and have held my staff and players to the same standard."

The statement Brownell released is as follows:

"I’ve been in college basketball for over 25 years, and I’ve always tried to conduct myself within the rules and have held my staff and players to the same standard.

"Because I do not have any personal knowledge about the current investigation, I won’t comment or speculate about that matter. We’ll cooperate with any agency looking into the issue if they contact us."

Clemson Athletic Director Dan Radakovich also released a statement:

"Clemson was made aware of an issue regarding a former student-athlete through this morning’s media reports. We received no inquiries or prior notice from anyone, and we’re in the process of reviewing the matter."

Blossomgame was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft to the San Antonio Spurs and is currently playing in the G League.

This investigation is an eye-opening experience for players who see themselves going to the NBA. Players have to be more knowledgeable now more than ever who they trust and who they associate themselves with.

Donte Grantham sees himself as a potential NBA player, like Blossomgame, and has always been conscious of who he is trusting. He will continue to be as he moves forward in the process.

"Even before this, you always have to be cautious of who you trust and who you let in your circle," Grantham said. "As the older I get, the smaller my circle gets. Just being extra cautious and carrying ourselves like we've been carrying ourselves."
