Clemson’s recruiting momentum continued over the weekend, as four-star offensive lineman Grant Wise‍ announced his commitment to the Tigers, becoming the fourth prospect to pledge to Dabo Swinney’s program during a busy weekend at the Elite Retreat. The Tigers have added pledges from OL Adam Guthrie‍, WR Naeem Burroughs‍, and WR Connor Salmin‍ as well, boosting the class to eight committed players.

The Pace High School (Milton, Fla.) standout brings both pedigree and polish to Clemson’s 2026 class. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound interior lineman is the son of former Miami center Ty Wise, who went on to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. Wise’s father is a coach at Pace High and that football lineage has given the younger Wise an edge in navigating the recruiting process—and now, it’s led him to Tiger Town.

Wise made his decision in dramatic fashion, posting a video on his Twitter account where he handed Swinney an "All-In" chip, saying, "Something told me to grab this from the house before I came up here—and I think it's because I want to be a Clemson Tiger." Swinney erupted in excitement, yelling, "Let's go!! That's my guy right there!"

After we caught up with Wise last summer, he told us that Clemson stood out. "My visit was amazing! Coach Swinney is an amazing coach,” Wise said reflecting on his trips to Clemson. “The program is in place to help athletes outside of football like no other."

Clemson had been a consistent presence in Wise’s recruitment. Swinney and offensive line coach Matt Luke visited Wise at his high school on January 28, emphasizing his fit in their system and his potential leadership role in the 2026 class.

"Coach Swinney and Coach Luke see me as a fit for their program and want me to be their leader in the 2026 class," Wise said.

Wise had also visited Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan, and Ohio State, but Clemson’s personal approach and developmental focus resonated deeply.

"It shows that they only recruit the players they truly want, and they want to build a personal relationship with all their recruits," he said.

Beyond football, Clemson’s emphasis on player support—both on and off the field—stood out to Wise and his family. His mother, who accompanied him on his visits, was particularly impressed by the resources available to players as they transition beyond football.

"My mom really appreciated learning about all the support programs for football players while playing and after they are done with football," Wise added.

As a prospect, Wise brings versatility to Clemson’s offensive line. He projects as a guard or center at the next level, showcasing strong fundamentals, powerful hands, and an ability to bend and pull effectively in the run game. He’s also looking to develop his snapping ability, potentially following in his father’s footsteps as a collegiate center.

Now locked in with the Tigers, Wise becomes a key piece of Clemson’s future up front. His commitment bolsters a class that continues to take shape under Swinney and Luke, adding a physically gifted and technically sound lineman with the football IQ and leadership qualities to be an anchor in the trenches for the 2026 class.
