Clemson redshirt freshman cornerback Tavoy Feagin has entered the NCAA transfer portal, multiple sources confirmed Monday, just over a week before the spring transfer window officially opens on April 16.

Feagin, a former four-star recruit out of Tampa, Florida, appeared in just two games during the 2024 season, logging 11 defensive snaps. His decision to explore opportunities elsewhere comes just two days after Clemson’s annual Orange and White spring game — a scrimmage in which Feagin did not appear, despite the Tigers being short-handed in the secondary.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney addressed the possibility of roster changes following Saturday’s scrimmage.

“Who knows. Those are just things you have to respond to,” Swinney said. “If everything stays the same today, we feel good about our roster. We have a lot of work to do, but we are ready to go to battle with the guys we got, and let’s go compete. We like our guys. Who knows.”

Feagin becomes the first scholarship player to enter the portal for the Tigers this spring.

Now, with his departure, Clemson faces another personnel decision as it eyes the upcoming changes brought on by the House v. NCAA settlement, which takes effect July 1. The ruling is set to raise the football scholarship limit from 85 to 105, essentially eliminating walk-on roles and increasing the pressure on coaching staffs to maintain deeper, scholarship-heavy rosters.

“We’ve been really good with retention, and I would expect that to stay the same,” Swinney said Saturday. “Maybe there are a couple of guys that move on. I don’t know. I really don’t. So, whatever happens, we just go and respond to it. And we can, and we will. But we will see.”

Feagin's exit opens the door for Brandon Strozier, Myles Oliver, and Corian Gipson to take on bigger roles heading into fall camp to compete for playing time behind Avieon Terrell, Ashton Hampton, Jeadyn Lukus, and Shelton Lewis, all with starting experience. Whether Clemson looks to the portal to add experience at cornerback remains to be seen.
