No. 20 Tigers Fall at No. 4 Blue Devils 67-54

DURHAM, N.C. – No. 20 Clemson University men’s basketball fell to No. 4 Duke 67-54 on Saturday afternoon in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Tigers (20-6, 10-3 ACC) led only once during the contest and trailed the Blue Devils for a season high 36:15. RJ Godfrey (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett/Georgia) led the Tigers with 10 points and eight rebounds and achieved a new milestone, surpassing 300 points in a season for the first time in his career.

Clemson trailed by as much as eight in the first half before outscoring the Blue Devils 6-3 to cut the deficit to five heading into halftime.

Carter Welling (Draper, Utah/Corner Canyon/Utah Valley) scored 12 points to record his 17th game amassing double-digit points this season.

Clemson shot a season low of 25.0 percent from three and 35.1 percent from the field.

Ace Buckner (Dallas, Texas/La Lumiere School (Ind.) scored seven points, to pair with his team-high-tying two assists. Nick Davidson (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mater Dei) also finished with seven points off the bench.

In the final five minutes, the Blue Devils extended their lead to a game-high 22, but the Tigers closed the game on a 12-3 run over the final 4:40.

The Tigers return to the floor on Wednesday, Feb. 18 when they travel to Wake Forest. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. on ACCN.
