WATCH: Dabo Swinney's Press Conference for Furman
OPENING STATEMENT:
“It's game week, I'm excited. I really am. This is just so much fun. I'm ready to kick it off. I cannot wait to see our team play. I'm excited to see where we are. I'm excited to see how we handle the game atmosphere. Just play somebody and get some knowledge about where we are."
"We've had a really good camp-- It's been a tough camp. I think the team is well prepared for the totality of the season. For the most part, we are a pretty healthy team."
QUICK NOTES:
A few notes from Dabo Swinney's Tuesday press conference before Furman:
-- Last year's quarterback competition wasn't even close. Kelly Bryant has improved. He's had a tremendous year of prep since January. Said Trevor Lawrence came in off the charts from a talent standpoint but you never know how they are going to react.
Said Lawrence was absorbing the offense very well and is unique. Bryant was the clear winner in the spring, but it's pretty obvious we saw a guy that is going to get better. Said he's really proud of Bryant and how he's come into his own. He's got thick skin.
Three scrimmages for Bryant this fall: 23-32, 300+ yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions
Trevor did exactly what we thought he would do. He came back and showed he had more of a grasp of the offense. He's mentally in a good place. The game has slowed down for him.

ON FURMAN:
“I really like Clay (Hendrix). Had an opportunity to be around him a little bit over the last couple of years. Just a heck of a football coach, a great man, very, very good at what he does and very impressive what they’ve done at Furman and just last year, I think they were one of the most improved teams in the country. I think they went +5 win total up from the year before, so just really impressed with their season last year. They had a heck of a run into the (FCS) playoffs last year, just got better and better as they really have bought in to what Clay is trying to do there.”
“I think it's one of those games where sometimes people say, you’re playing Furman and this and that, we don’t ever look at it that way, we really don’t. We have a standard and it doesn’t change, whether you’re playing a 1-AA opponent or you’re playing in the National Championship Game. Standard doesn’t change. It’s the exact same, every single week. That’s how you develop consistency in what you’re trying to do and it’s worked well for us.”
