Clemson's first matchup with Georgia Southern didn't go as smoothly as many had hoped, especially in the early part of the contest. Clemson entered the game with zero turnovers during the season but survived giving up three against the Eagles in their 38-7 win.

Clemson's offensive staff wanted to get Travis Etienne the football, and it was clear that spreading the ball around was also valuable in the tune-up for their ACC road opener at Georgia Tech.
